01 Oct Snapshot of London Borough Market
Time seems to be disappearing scarily fast in a haze of planning, working and panicking right now and I’m starting to lose sleep over the never-ending list of travel tasks that have yet to be completed in preparation for our trip. One thing I’m desperately trying to find time for is visiting and taking pictures of all the places I love in London before we leave. So here’s the first of a few picture posts I’m going to publish of the places I’ll miss when we leave.
London Borough market
Borough food market is a great place to grab lunch; for me it’s brilliant as there’s loads of veggie options; you can also get freshly squeezed juices, the most delicious just-baked cakes and bread and all kinds of other treats. We can’t really afford to shop there on our limited food budget, but it’s also a farmers’ market so you can get your fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and meat there if you like. To top that off there are some great pubs in Borough market so you can stop and have a drink after you’ve finished stuffing your face!

How to get to Borough Market – get the tube or overground train to London Bridge station and follow the Borough Road exit.
Borough Market opening hours – Monday-Wednesday 10am-3pm, Thursday 11am-5pm, Friday 12pm-6pm, Saturday 8am-5pm.

Posted at 14:06h, 23 OctoberOur favourite time to go is on a Friday from 2pm – it’s still buzzing but you’ve missed the lunchtime queues. To really enjoy Borough Market on a Saturday you need to get there super-early. It’s become so popular that it’s rammed by midday and not the chilled & relaxed experience it was say 5 to 10 years ago. It’s well worth the effort of getting there earlier – you get to see all of the stalls, goods on offer, free samples and great vibe without having to fight your way through a mass of people.
