Czech Republic

We first visited the Czech Republic while travelling through Europe by bus. That summer, we fell instantly in love with the vibrant capital, Prague, and took a morbid trip to the Bone Church in Kutna Hora. We enjoyed our time in Prague so much that we returned for a month in 2017, this time in winter. As it was the lead up to Christmas, we got to experience snow and festive xmas markets while getting to know the city better with visiting family. Check out our blog posts about Prague below, we’d love to return and explore more of the Czech Republic.

Imagine a church decorated with the bones of up to 70,000 people. Picture ivory-coloured towers and artfully arranged skulls, delicate bone necklaces strung across the ceiling and shaped into elaborate coats of arms and chalices. This is what we discovered during an eerie yet beautiful visit to the Bone Church, located in the tiny town of Kutna Hora in the Czech countryside.
